Q & A with Boysen Mbatha

One of our newest signings Boysen Mbatha gives us the opportunity to get to know him a little better in this week’s question and answer interview.

Q: How have you found the switch to Durban so far?

A: The switch from Durban is kind of warm and obviously it’s different from Jozi. It’s quite a comfortable atmosphere to be at.

Q: What do you think of the club’s set up?

A: The set up in the team is very much organized, professional and team spirit is welcoming.

Q: Where did you start your playing career?

A: I started playing at remember Embalenhle Sports Academy then from there I went to play for Jomo Cosmos and then signed with Moroka swallows.

Q: What are your thoughts on the upcoming 2016/17 National First Division season?

A: My thoughts about the NFD this season is that it has grown a lot and now people are starting to pay more attention to it.

Q: What do you think make the club decide to sign you?

A: Mmmh. I think what made the club decide to sign me first of all is the work rate I put in when I’m on the field and my God given talent that I’ve got.

Q: Tell us about your hometown and family.

A: I’m from Mpumalanga, Secunda in Leandra. My family is full of great football followers, it’s a huge family where we sleep and eat football. My dad is always giving me advice and pushing me, so is everybody else – my younger brothers and my older sis and younger sister and so is my Girlfriend as well.

Q: What is the football talent like in Leandra?

A: There are very good young stars who have the potential and but it doesn’t have the football facilities, and that worries me a lot. This serves as a reminder every time I’m on the field to push hard not for me only but for my community as well.

Q: What keeps you going as person and player?

A: It’s the fact that I came from a very huge family who love football with all they’ve got. Their support keeps me going and also because I want to make a huge name for myself even throughout the continent and that keeps me going every time. When I’m on the field I always see myself as the next big player in the continent.

Q: Your favourite player in SA and abroad?

A: My favourite SA player is my mentor Siyabonga Nomvete. I want to be like him soon and even ten time’s more than him. Overseas my favourite player is Luka Modric from Real Madrid and Crotia.

Q: Whats your take on the Head Coach’s style and your relationship with your new teammates?

A:Coach Joey Antipas is a very good coach who has a winning mentality and believes in simple football. My fellow teammates are a very hard working bunch of guys with hunger to play and a winning mentality. Many of them also want to make names for themselves and the club.
