AmaZulu goalkeeper coach Davies Phiri has spoken highly of the new young AmaZulu goalkeeper Mpendulo Dlamini.
Phiri said he believes that in years to come, Dlamini will be the next Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.
“He has the correct height, he is brave enough and most importantly he is always willing to learn. I have no doubt that if he continues with that attitude, he will one day play for Bafana Bafana,” said Phiri.
Phiri added that being brave is the first requirement as a goalkeeper, and he focuses on teaching his players the correct techniques.
“I have been impressed with the way he has carried himself at training. He is a great goalkeeper and I am sure great things are ahead of him.”
The 20-year-old signed with the first team after having excelled in the junior ranks for AmaZulu and recently for the Durban Warriors team.
He said he is grateful to finally get the opportunity to be with the first team and one day hopes to be the number one goalkeeper.
“I am very excited to be finally signed by the club’s first team, this has always been my dream. I am willing to learn from the experienced goalkeepers here at the club and hopefully when my opportunity comes I will excel and use them well,” said Dlamini.
“It is also my dream to play for the national team one day and for that I will have to put in the hard work,” added the young goalkeeper.Share
