AmaZulu 21 year older centre back Tapelo Nyongo gives his insights on the weekend’s nail biting KZN Premiers Cup which is scheduled for the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay, Saturday and Sunday.
“The team is looking good and ready for the Premier’s Cup on the weekend. I think we will be well structured given the amount of friendlies we have played.”
“We have a clear indication of how the coach wants us to play and everyone knows the roles they need to play in the team to make sure we all pull in one direction,” said Nyongo.
Last month the Khayelitsha born defender received many plaudits for their gallant display in the Uthungulu Mayoral Cup after coming from behind twice on the match, and eventual beat Golden Arrows 3-1 on penalties which saw them crowned champions.
This weekend however Zimbabwean tactician, Joey Antipas stronger hurdles as all four National First Division sides involved in the tournament have to play in the quarterfinals on Saturday to ensure a longer stay in the third installment of the Premiers Cup.
“With the Premier’s Cup I’m just looking forward to see how far we have progressed and how we handle the pressure and different situations.”
“But also winning the cup is the primary target for the weekend. It’s going to help us build on the winning mentality we are growing to have,” said Nyongo.
