Usuthu look to get back to winning ways in the Absa Premiership when they take on Chippa United at the King Zwelithini stadium on Saturday night.
Usuthu centre-back, Tapelo Nyongo is banking on their home record to come into their favour once more as they look to erase last month’s disheartening 4-1 loss to Free State Stars in Bethlehem.
Chippa United however, may walk into the match in high spirits after defeating Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup to secure their spot in the semi-Finals.
The 23-year-old defender and his colleagues managed an away against Chippa in the first round but reckons this round’s encounter to be a six pointer as both teams garner for victory. Usuthu look to challenge for a Top 8 spot while Chippa United will be looking to steer themselves out of danger as they lie 14th on the Absa Premiership log standings.
“It’s going to be a very difficult encounter as it’s a six-pointer game for both teams, we will have to be at our best and we cannot afford to leave any room for any errors, we will have to be smart,” Nyongo said.
The 23 year old believes that the team’s mentality is extremely imperative if they are to have an added advantage against their opponents and is confident that the team will become more consistent with their performances as the season draws to a close.
“As much as tactics are important but the mentality towards tactics is very vital, as a team we are striving towards that strong mentality amongst ourselves.”
“It’s been a very inconsistent second half for us so far and mostly disappointing, but we are willing to put in the effort and desire to rectify that,” he concluded.
