AmaZulu defensive duo, Tapelo Nyongo and Luyanda Hlongwa have experienced seven weeks of pre-season under the guardianship of Head Coach, Joey Antipas with the addition of 10 new players adding a new feel at Usuthu.
Former Old Mutual Academy graduate, Nyongo says there’s a growing understanding amongst players and coaches within the Usuthu kraal ahead of the coming season.
“The new players have been really impressive for me. What I like in them is the aggressive nature they have. They bring solidness in our defense. I have played next to Njabulo (Ngcobo) in some friendlies and we have complimented each well but he also works well with others too. And Stevy (Nzambe) also, is really solid.”
Versatile defender, Luyanda Hlongwa remains hopeful his fellow new teammates will hit the ground running and help the club challenge for honours this season.
“We must face challenges together with the help and the support of our fans. The camp we had this week really played a big role in helping us understand each other and everyone in the team now knows the vision of the club.
Playing wise it was also good because we beat our opponents 5-0 in a friendly on Friday which shows we were all comfortable around one another and we’ll be focused in the coming weeks,” said the 29 year old defender.
On Sunday, 28 August Usuthu face Black Leopards in their opening National First Division fixture at the Princess Magogo Stadium at 15:00pm.Share
