AmaZulu striker Bongani Ndulula says he is delighted with his nominations for the upcoming 2013/14 club awards which are set to take place at the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World on Thursday, 24 July 2014.
‘Drogba’ is nominated twice in the category for the Suncoast Moment of Brilliance and he says he is hoping to walk away with the award.
“I’m really happy; it’s an honour to be nominated for this award,” he said. “As a player you try to give your best for the team throughout the season so it serves as extra motivation if you are recognised for your contribution; I will be happy if I win.”
Ndulula’s moments of brilliance came in the form of the goal he scored in the opening game of the season as Usuthu defeated his former club Orlando Pirates 1-0, as well as the brace he netted during the 3-1 away win over provincial rivals Maritzburg United.
However, he says the solo effort against the Buccaneers meant more for him as it helped kick-start the season and also sealed a historic win.
“The goal against Pirates was more special because it was the first game of the season and every team wants to start on a winning note,” he said. “The club had not beaten Pirates away for 20 years so I’m happy that I contributed in ending that dry spell.
“The fact that I was scoring against my former club was just the cherry on top.”
Also nominated in the same category as Drogba is Goodman Dlamini, for his double against Platinum Stars, as well as Ruzaigh Gamildien, for his brilliant finish against Free State Stars.Share
