AmaZulu striker Bongani Ndulula is set to make his debut for the South African senior national team when they face Sudan in their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Group A qualifier on Friday night.
The match will kick off at 7pm (South African time).
Drogba will lead the attack alongside Tokelo Rantie, who already has 20 Bafana Bafana caps under his belt.
Bafana and Sudan have never met in a senior official match before despite being founding members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The match will also mark Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba’s first in charge of Bafana Bafana since being appointed in July but Ndulula has previously worked with the coach in the national under-23 team.
Mashaba has picked an inexperienced squad for the match against Sudan and reigning African champions Nigeria, which takes place next midweek.
Defender Anele Ngcongca has the most international experience with 35 senior caps, while the likes of Thabo Matlaba, Dean Furman, Andile Jali and Oupa Manyisa are also into double figures.
With Itumeleng Khune being ruled out due to an ankle injury, Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa will start between the posts and will also wear the captain’s armband.
Sudan will be no pushovers, especially on home soil although they lost 3-1 to Zambia in a warm-up friendly.
Bafana Bafana line-up: Meyiwa, Hlatshwayo, Matlaba, Mathoho, Ngcongca, Furman, Jali, Masango, Ndulula, Dolly, Rantie.
Bafana subs: Keet, Khumalo, Vilakazi, Manyisa, Zwane, Coetsee, NtuliShare
