Musa Langa’s appointment as Goalkeeper Coach may be seen as a homecoming. At least to the eyes and emotions of the Usuthu faithful, who always yearn for the AmaZulu “cultured” personnel to propagate future talent.
Langa played over four seasons for Usuthu between the late 90s to early 2000s, where he had to compete with the experienced Wade Du Plessis and Patrick Biembe for a starting berth.
Speaking after training about his appointment he said: “It feels good because everyone wants at some point to go through personal change and growth.”
“As a goalkeeper trainer I started from development and i am still passionate about developing goalkeepers.”
“I like to work with equally passionate goalkeepers. I must say I feel lucky to be here having spent quite a number of years with Arrows, to whom I’m quite grateful towards. My aim here at AmaZulu is to make a difference,” said Langa.
The 46-year-old KwaMashu born man who has spent over 12 years with Lamontville Golden Arrows as Goalkeeper Coach, both at junior levels and the first team will be completing his first week as an AmaZulu employee on 11 September.
He has lauded the mental and physical conditioning of some of the junior and mid-senior minders that have been displayed currently but he says striving for improvements is what sets apart many.
“For goalkeepers it’s just pushing them to work harder because only one plays in a match. The rest need to be on their toes, ready and raring to do better than their previous teammates,” said Langa.
Langa will also be working closely with current first team Goalkeeper Coach, Davies Phiri. The part-time teacher has had a stint with Chippa United.
Usuthu supporters will applaud the fact that Langa joins Reserve Team Head Coach, Ayanda Dlamini in the dugout for Usuthu who also served the green and white donning side loyally as a player.
The appointment follows that of another former AmaZulu player, Nhlanhla Zwane who coaches the Under-13s.
Former AmaZulu captain, Bukasa Kasonga is currently coaching the Under 19s who will soon be starting their SAB League 2018/19 campaign.
