Murambadoro – Win is better than clean sheet

AmaZulu goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro spoke to www.amazulufc.net about his experience at the club so far.

Q: How has it been for you since joining AmaZulu and what are some of the things that you have learn so far?

A: It been great and I must say that AmaZulu is the most professional club that I have ever played for. The way things are done says a lot about the vision and the growth of the club.

Q: Joining a club that is facing relegation battles all the time must have some pressure on you?

A: Yes there is competition in the goalkeeping department but one needs to continue working hard and it is all about the team at the end of the day.
There are two great goalkeepers in the team and I have absolute respect for each one of them. I am also grateful for the opportunity to be coached by the best goalkeeper coach in Davies Phiri.

Q: Going to the game against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Saturday, what are your expectations?

A: It is not going to be an easy game at all. Aces have not been doing well recently and I am sure that they will be aiming at bouncing back against us.

Q: Does the fact that you will be playing against your former club put added pressure on you?

A: No, not at all, I will be treating this game just like any other games that I have played. Yes Aces was my home back then, but now AmaZulu is my new home and I owe so much to them. If given an opportunity I will give it my best.

Q: Since arriving at the club, you have not managed to get a clean sheet, does that worry you?

A: Not really, although as a goalkeeper you would wish that you get a clean sheet but at this point in time a win is the most important thing to us.
I mean even if we win by 12-10 that wouldn’t matter to me as long as we win. At this point in time we are all aware that we need nothing else but the three points.

Q: The victory against SuperSport United, what has that meant to the team?

A: That win was long overdue. It is what we have been working hard on, and it has indeed lifted our confidence.

Q: How has it been like working with coach Steve Barker?

A: Steve is a great guy, I have so much respect for him especially the way he conducts himself and stays calm in such hard times. His ability to take the pressure away from the players is phenomenal.
