Young AmaZulu goalkeeper Mpendulo Dlamini was outstanding on his debut as he kept a clean sheet and took his side to victory in the Uthungulu Mayoral Cup over the weekend.
Dlamini, who is learning a lot from Usuthu goalkeeper coach Davies Phiri, said he was delighted about his debut and can only hope to improve from there.
“It was such a great experience and an honour to get a clean sheet on my debut. This has always been my dream to be in the first team and so I am proud on how things unfolded for me on the day,” said Dlamini after their 2-0 victory against Milford FC.
With Energy Murambadoro and Sage Stephens ahead of him in the pecking order, Dlamini said he is grateful for the opportunity to work with such quality players and he is learning a lot from them.
“I am learning a lot and it is good to be guided by people with experience because they always push you to your limits. I still feel there are some shortcomings I need to work on, but so far I am happy with the way things are going and the experience I am getting,” he said.
Later today, AmaZulu will play a friendly match against NorthEast United FC and more youngsters are expected to feature in this game at the Princes Magogo Stadium at8pm.
