As AmaZulu are working on making a strong comeback in the second half of the Absa Premiership, goalkeeper Siyabonga Mngoma aims to be one of the players to be counted as they attempt to avoid relegation.
Mngoma’s current wish is to have a speedy recovery and come back and claim the number one jersey for Usuthu. He said he is hoping that he will recover soon.
“I am hoping for a speedy recovery, hopefully towards the end of January I will be back on track. On the 17th of December I went for my operation and on the 5th of January I will be going to remove my plaster cast,” said Mngoma, who suffered a fractured earlier this month.
“I know that the club is not doing well at the moment but I want to help bring a better change in the club,” explained the goalkeeper.
With Tapuwa Kapini and Aubrey Mathibe also aiming for the number one spot, Mngoma said he is not in competition with anyone but himself, although there are always challenges.
“The goal is to become the best I can be. I do not compete with anyone but myself. I think we all have one goal, which is to help the club win. Challenges will always be there but I aim at doing well in all the opportunities that I get,” he said.
“This is not something new to me. In 2009 whilst I was with University of Pretoria we faced a similar challenge just after the Nedbank, but we managed to fight relegation. This time as well with AmaZulu if we take each game seriously and give it our all we can still recover,” said the 26-year-old.Share
