Usuthu promising left back, Sbusiso Mabiliso has gifted himself with the perfect sendoff and goodbye as he netted a cracker to save AmaZulu from being mauled 1-0 at home by a desperate Black Leopards on 04 May.
The elated 20-year-old Phokeng born defender will be joining Thabo Senong’s National U20 side on camp ahead of preparations for the world cup in Poland.
Mabiliso beamed with excitement after the breathtaking match in Umlazi when discussing his first Absa Premiership goal.
‘’My first PSL goal was very exciting I must say, and I’m looking forward to scoring more goals in future. I think this was the best way to end off the campaign for myself.”
‘’We knew that Black leopards came prepared for us like we also prepared for them, and we were told by the coach to give our all. We were looking forward to getting three points but unfortunately, we only got one, ‘’ he said.
Mabiliso also expressed his happiness at being given the opportunity to represent his country at the U20 World Cup and believes that his experience will be valuable to the team.
‘’I’m looking forward to represent the country at the World Cup, it is a great honor as I’m also one of the players who has regular game time in the PSL – so I’m eager to add my experience to the team in a positive manner.’’
The former Platinum Stars youth also paid homage to mentorship of head coach Cavin Johnson and his technical staff for the immense improvement in his game at Usuthu.
‘’I’m not surprised about being featured regularly in the squad. I’ve been working hard to be where I am now and I’m grateful to the coach for always believing in me.’’
