KwaZulu-Natal rivals AmaZulu and Maritzburg United will meet for an Absa Premiership derby at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday, 12 February 2013, kick-off at 19h30.
AmaZulu have gone seven games without a league win and ended 2012 with a 2-0 loss away to log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
So the Durban side, bolstered by some new signings, will be aiming to improve on a home record which has seen them claim just two wins from seven matches this season.
Usuthu are placed 16th on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from 16 matches.
New arrivals such as Bongani Ndulula, Joseph Malongoane and Makhosonke Bhengu have given the Usuthu faithful much to be excited about, and are expected to help Craig Rosslee’s side escape the relegation zone.
Their opponents Maritzburg have gone four league matches without a win and ended 2012 with a 1-1 draw at home to University of Pretoria.
The Pietermaritzburg team has a good away record so far this season, with four wins and just one loss from seven matches on the road.
The Team of Choice is placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 24 points from 16 matches.
In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Maritzburg have met in 11 league matches since 2005/06.
The Team of Choice has traditionally dominated the rivalry, with six wins compared to just one for Usuthu.
AmaZulu’s lone victory came at home in 2010/11, but they have lost three of the other four matches in which they have hosted Maritzburg.
When the teams met earlier this season, the Team of Choice claimed a 2-0 home win thanks to a brace from Cuthbert Malajila.
