Former AmaZulu striker, Mabhuti Khenyeza has returned to the club.
The 36-year-old has joined Usuthu’s Technical Team as a second assistant coach to Cavin Johnson.
Khenyeza retired from the game at the end of 2018 to take up a role as assistant coach of Maritzburg United. After a short stint at the Team of Choice, Khenyeza has returned home to take up place on the bench alongside current assistant coach, Alan Clark.
“I am happy to be back at Amazulu. I must thank the club’s management for trusting me. This means a lot to me,” Khenyeza said.
“I learnt a lot in my short time at Maritzburg. Now I am just eager to help these young boys succeed,” Khenyeza added.
Having played under Johnson, Khenyeza is now looking forward to working alongside the experienced mentor.
“I know that I will grow under coach Cavin and Alan. I enjoyed working with them as a player, now I am looking forward to learning from them as a coach,” Khenyeza said.
AmaZulu General Manager, Lunga Sokhela said it was an easy decision to bring, Khenyeza back to the club.
“It is no secret that Mabhuti left the club prematurely. It was always our intention to tap into his experience at some stage,” Sokhela said.
“He has been around for a long time, he got a taste of life as a coach at Maritzburg United and we are confident that he will bring plenty of energy and tactical acumen to the current technical team,” Sokhela added.Share
