AmaZulu goalkeeper and captain Tapuwa Kapini says he happy to be back in action after completing his recovery from a head injury.
The Zimbabwe international was back in goal for Usuthu during Sunday’s 2-0 Nedbank Cup win over United FC, his first game for the club since the defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in December last year.
“It’s good to be back; I’ve been out with an injury so I thank my family, my teammates and all the medics who have done a wonderful job to help with my recovery,” he said.
The 29-year-old had a solid game between the sticks and capped it off by pulling off a great save to stop Abram Mahlaba’s penalty kick late in the game.
“Going back to the game; it’s my job to do well on the field,” he added. “I think we were prepared because we knew that United FC like to knock the ball from the back.
“The fatigue killed us in the end because we only had training session last week but credit must go to the guys because they pushed until the end.”
Usuthu will find out who their next opponents in the competition are when the draw for the Last 16 is conducted on Thursday afternoon.Share
