AmaZulu Head Coach, Cavin Johnson has praised his charges after they ensuring Usuthu open their Absa Premiership 2017/18 season with a home victory against Free State Stars on Saturday afternoon in Umlazi.
The 58 year old tactician said his players deserve all the plaudits for their hard work.
“We have to give credit to the boys. We controlled the game, the most part of it, even we were 10 man down. Going into the first half I think we should have been at least two goals up even though we were 10 men. But in saying that it’s the first game of the PSL (Absa Premiership) season, and you’ve got give credit to the boys for putting in the effort, they looked like they were enjoying the game.”
“The goal made things better, it made the players realise what type of competition the PSL is, it just gave the players confidence that they can compete in the PSL. We have to really give the boys credit.”
“For what it’s worth I think they really played according to our instructions, I’ve only been with them for a week, and a week sounds long but you can cut it down to maybe 5 hours.”
“To be able to turn them around to what they’ve done today (Saturday) you’ve got to say well done to them,” said Johnson.
AmaZulu take to the road on Monday for a match against Chippa United on Tuesday night at Nelson Mandela Stadium. Kick off at 19:30pm.Share
