AmaZulu head coach Cavin Johnson praised his side for a gallant display against provincial rivals Maritzburg United despite the match ending goalless on Wednesday night at King Zwelithini Stadium.
“We played a good game of football. That happens when you play a good team. We are not really happy with the point but we got a clean sheet.”
Usuthu were hoping to gain maximum points to enable their climb on the Absa Premiership log following the docking of 6 points through a FIFA ruling last week.
The 59-year-old tactician however lauds adequate preparation for coming out with a satisfactory performance which had United against the ropes on many occasions during the match in Umlazi.
“They defend well. They had a big variation in their game, so for us to break it down was a moment of brilliance,” he said.
“We put in a lot of work in our training and we showed that we can play a good brand of football,” Johnson added.
Usuthu host Orlando Pirates at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, 06 October. Kickoff is at 20:15. Match tickets R40 at TicketPro outlets.Share
