AmaZulu FC goalkeeper, Siyabonga Mbatha has urged his defence to bounce back after conceding three times in a defeat to Polokwane City last weekend.
On Saturday, Usuthu face a free scoring Highlands Park team who are one of only five teams in the league to have reached the 20 goal mark.
Their main striker, Mothobi Mvala is the competition’s top scorer with seven goals while the enterprising, Lindokuhle Mbatha and Peter Shalulile also pose a threat to Mbatha’s goal.
“It is very important to be strong as a defensive unit. We just need to keep building from the back and grind out results,” Mbatha said.
The visit from Owen Da Gama’s side will be AmaZulu’s first home game of 2019. Usuthu are undefeated at the King Zwelithini Stadium this season and Mbatha believes his team can build on their home form
“I think we are totally a different team at home. We are very strong at home and our goal is always to take maximum points,” Mbatha said.
He continued, “It is a big game for us, we ended on a high last year but last weekend’s defeat against Polokwane City was an eye opener for us. We need to keep working hard.”
Cavin Johnson’s side are 11th on the log but only five points separates them from Maritzburg United who are bottom of the table.
“We need to worry about ourselves; things are very much in our hands. We need to win our games and not be concerned about who is behind us,” Mbatha said.Share
