Gumede: Usuthu seeking redemption against Chiefs

Mbongeni Gumede

AmaZulu FC defender Mbongeni Gumede is looking forward to Usuthu’s clash with Kaizer Chiefs.

Usuthu are scheduled to host Amakhosi in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday.

Chiefs secured a 3-0 win over AmaZulu in a Telkom Knockout Cup Last 16 match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium almost three weeks ago.

Gumede, who played the entire match against Amakhosi, feels that they were unfortunate on the night.

“We let ourselves down against Chiefs during the Cup match,” Gumede told AmaZulufc.net.

“In my view, we did not performance badly on the night. We were just too unlucky.

“They scored with two deflected shots. We created chances which we could not convert.”

The former Orlando Pirates defender is eyeing a victory over Chiefs, who are undefeated in their last three league games.

“This will be a different match. We are playing for points,” the 24-year-old continued.

“I am looking forward to the game. It’s our chance to make things right.

“I believe that we will get a positive result because we will be playing at home.”

Kick-off between AmaZulu and Chiefs is at 19h30.
