AmaZulu FC defender Mbongeni Gumede is pleased with how the team has performed in the Absa Premiership this season.
Usuthu, who returned to the top flight league prior to the current campaign, have managed to secure impressive victories over Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Gumede is also satisfied with his own displays having made six appearances including the the Telkom Knockout Cup Last 16 match against Kaizer Chiefs almost two weeks ago.
“I am definitely happy with how I have preformed so far. But there’s still room for improvement,” Gumede told AmaZulufc.net.
“I would like to get more game time now that the team is campaigning in the Absa Premiership,” the 24-year-old, who captained Usuthu against Chiefs, added.
AmaZulu currently find themselves placed ninth on the league standings with 12 points from nine matches. They are only behind eighth-placed Sundowns on goal-difference.
“As for the team’s results, we have done fairly well. It is a long season and there’s still a lot of work to be done,” the former South Africa youth international continued.
“The most important thing for us is to avoid relegation. It will be a great achievement if we finish the season in the top eight.”
Usuthu are set to host Chiefs in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday, 22 November 2017. Kick-off is at 19h30.Share
