A spirit of comradery between the club’s die hard supporters and management was revived at the club’s ancestry fan base in KwaMashu’s Embelebeleni on Sunday, 16 August 2015.
The meeting was held to map a way forward for the new season and to strengthen the club’s communication channels with the core of AmaZulu supporters.
The meeting was chaired by Qedi Dlamini who has been assigned to the role of driving the supporters’ programs this season. Some of the club’s office staff were also present, led by Marketing Manager Lunga Sokhela, Team Manager Japhet Zwane, Receptionist Lihle Dlamini, Simon Ndebele of Safety and Security and the club’s Media Officer Brilliant Mkhathini.
“We’re glad the meeting opened a starting point from which to begin because we really need the supporters as club and they too need us,” said Dlamini.
While the meeting provided the platform for the loyalists to pour their hearts out, as well as to have many of their questions answered, the general consensus was that the flame will remain alive in the NFD at AmaZulu home matches.
Former Usuthu legends Wellington ‘Chippa’ Khoza, Fred ‘Cat’ Mfeka and Eric ‘Nduna-kaNdaba’ Ngidi were met with applause as they also voiced their support for the club.
A teary feeling of nostalgia swept through the meeting as different individuals counted their experiences of joy and pain from over the years spent supporting the green and white.
A strategic five person’s task team was also formed to assist in helping to revive some of the club’s supporter branches going into the start of the national first division.Share
