AmaZulu forward Ayanda Dlamini says his side will have to cope without the services of fellow striker Bongani Ndulula when they host Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday night.
The Eastern Cape-born player will not take part in the Absa Premiership clash, which will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, after picking up his fourth yellow card during the recent Nedbank Cup win over United FC.
‘Drogba’ has scored three league goals this season, the same number as Ayanda, but he believes his absence should motivate the rest of the team to do better in the final third.
“Bongani is an important player for us and he will be missed but we can’t use his suspension as an excuse,” Dlamini said.
“We have other players who are capable of scoring goals and it is up to those who will be selected to do their best.
“We don’t rely on one individual for goals; the responsibility lies on the whole team.”
Usuthu go into this game having lost their last two league matches but Dlamini says they have to take some confidence from the Nedbank Cup 2-0 win over United FC.
“We had a bit of a rough patch in the league but we redeemed ourselves in the Nedbank Cup,” Dlamini added.
“Since that game we’ve had a bit of time to rest and also to work on our mistakes and hopefully it will show when we play against Sundowns.”Share
