AmaZulu’s KwaNongoma born midfield ace, Goodman ‘Deco’ Dlamini was announced as the club’s 2013/14 Player of the Season at Usuthu’s annual club awards function at Suncoast Casino on Thursday, 24 July 2014.
The accolade dubbed the Sugar Ray Xulu award isn’t all the 26 year old bagged on the night as he was also given the Most Improved award for his astounding performance in a difficult season for the KZN side last season.
Deco led the midfield onslaught by example in Coach Craig Rosslee’s side last season and was able to finish joint top scorer in the league, netting five times alongside teammates Bongani Ndulula and Ayanda Dlamini.
The soft spoken player was also the fans’ choice for this year’s recipient of the Suncoast Moment of Brilliance after he amassed the most votes in the category which fans vote for on the club’s social network platforms.
Dlamini’s brace against Platinum Stars on 27 November 2013 was the popular choice ahead of Bongani Ndulula’s league opener against Orlando Pirates and Ruzaigh Gamildien’s goal against Free State Stars on 5 April.
Carlington Nyadombo won the Players’ Player of the Season award.
In the Development front Mfundo Shangase was chosen as the player of the season from the U13 division while Adam Brun for the U15s. Brydon Fynn was chosen as the best player for the U17 division. Mfundo Shangase won the overall development player of the season award.
The Chairman’s Award was given to the club’s safety and security department duo, Qedi Dlamini and Simon Ndebele. KwaMashu Supporters Branch received the Supporter Recognition award.Share
