AmaZulu’s goal scoring duck breakers Ayanda Dlamini and Thokozani Mshengu explain how the 2-1 home win against Moroka Swallows on Wednesday night can put their season back on track.
Although he has been a darling of the Usuthu faithful since his debut season four years ago, ‘Cobra’ admits that last night’s opening goal felt more special then the many he has scored in the green and white.
“We’ve always known what we’re capable of, the only difference was that the chances we got against Swallows we were able to bury,” Dlamini said.
“I just would like to urge our supporters to stay with us although it has been hard to go home after a disappointing result. We still really value their support and we’re going to keep fighting for the name of the club.
“And as for scoring, for me it helps my game and it reminded me that I’m still very much part of the team and I need to keep on working harder.”
With assistant coach Fani Madida expecting the troops back at training this afternoon to prepare for Saturday’s away meeting with Platinum Stars, another man looking for consistency is winger Thokozani ‘Mzekezeke’ Mshengu.
It was his left-footed curler to win the Swallows game in the dying minutes that gave AmaZulu supporters something to cheer about.
“I’m pleased we were able to finally get the three points after so much of struggling and I’m very happy I scored,” Mshengu said.
“I still need to work much harder because I know I can do more as time goes on. The thing is we knew that as a team we were struggling and we had to push harder together to get the result against Swallows.”
