AmaZulu head coach, Jozef Vukusic is expecting a tight contest against Chippa United at the weekend.
The Slovak mentor says his team will not take their opposition lightly, despite being seven points clear of their counterparts, who occupy the bottom of the table.
“We have won our last two games but we know we have to work hard to continue that form going forward. Our confidence levels are high but we take every game as it comes, so we have to make sure we are ready if we are going to take maximum points against Chippa on Saturday,” he said.
“They are a good team who have been unlucky in some games, they could have beaten Sundowns but they did not take their chances. Our defence has to be wary of the threat they have going forward and keep them at bay, and we will have to capitalise on our chances to walk away with another win.”
Twelfth placed Usuthu, who are coming off back to back wins against Baroka and Stellenbosch FC, will look to make it a third straight win in the Absa Premiership and move further up the table.
Target man Bongi Ntuli has been a shining light for the Durban based team, having scored all seven of their goals this season.
Vukusic says although it bodes well for the squad to have a striker of Ntuli’s caliber in their ranks, the team should be scoring more goals with then opportunities they have created.
“As long as the team is getting the wins, I am happy. It is good to have a player like Ntuli in our side but we have other offensive options as well. Majoro, Maduna and Ncobeni have all had chances, they need to start scoring as well so we are not so reliant on Ntuli,” he said.
A number of injuries have hampered Usuthu from fielding a full strength team in recent weeks, prompting Vukusic to express his desire in rotating the squad for the game against Chippa.
“We have not had much time for training, as we have two games this week. We will give certain players a rest, to regain their fitness, so it is a good opportunity to rotate the team and give other players a chance to prove themselves.”
Tickets are on sale at TicketPro and SPAR outlets, with the clash set to take place on Saturday at 8:15pm, at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.Share
