AmaZulu have captured the signature of exciting, New Zealand international striker, Andre de Jong.
The 22-year-old joins on a three year deal with an option to renew after impressing coach Cavin Johnson and his technical team while on trial at the club recently.
He joins from New Zealand top flight team, Eastern Suburbs having made his pro-debut for Canterbury United back in 2015.
He ranks among the top scorers in the league, with a super return of 38 goals from 36 games over the last two seasons.
He also has two caps for his national team having made his international debut against India last year.
“I am really looking forward to my time here and happy to join a team with plenty of ambition,” de Jong said.
“I think the level here is really high. The intensity, technical demands and pace is high. I want to work hard for the team and hopefully consolidate a place in the line-up soon,” he said.
“I can’t wait to get back here for preseason. The team and coach helped me settle in well. The trial was thoroughly enjoyable,” he said.
AmaZulu GM, Lunga Sokhela said he was happy to lure another top player from New Zealand. The club signed, Emiliano Tade last year from Auckland City before selling him to Mamelodi Sundowns in January.
“He is an exciting player with the ability to create and score. We are happy to have him join the Usuthu family,” Sokhela said.
“This team has showed that they can score goals and the recruitment of de Jong will definitely boost us up front,” Sokhela concluded.Share
