AmaZulu coach Steve Barker says their 5-2 victory over SuperSport United on Sunday was a testimony of the hard work and good performances the team has put in lately.
Barker said if they continue with that type of performance then his team will win the remaining matches and survive relegation.
“I think this victory was just a testimony of all the hard work we have been putting in of late. I think the difference this time is that we used the opportunities we had created.
“If we continue putting in such performances, we can win all the matches that we have remaining in this league,” said Barker.
“At some stage I thought it was going to be that recurring movie but suddenly things changed. My team put in a good performance and it was a well deserved victory,” he said.
Going forward Barker said they need to strengthen the defence and make sure that they get a clean sheet, which is something they have been struggling to achieve.
“I am happy with the strikers, the only area to work on is the defence, we cannot be conceding soft goals like those because it’s not every match where we will rise and score five goals.
“I am happy with the performances of the new signings – they are really getting into the momentum now,” said Barker.
Steve Barker’s next encounter will be against his uncle Clive Barker’s side Mpumalanga Black Aces.
“The confidence from the boys is high and we have what it takes to go back to winning ways. Yes the other teams ahead of us are not doing well but we must focus on our journey,” said Barker.Share
