Following their impressive 1-0 victory against Free State Stars on Saturday, AmaZulu coach Steve Barker said they are now moving in the right track.
This comes after Usuthu clinched a 1-0 win over Stars courtesy of Mbulelo Mabizela’s goal in what was a must win match for the Durban side.
“Mbulelo is a leader and it just shows that he really feels the game. He is able to position himself and he has been a great asset to the team.
“I think for him to have scored four goals says a lot about him and I am sure he will go on to be one of our greatest signings,” said Barker.
With Usuthu’s next League game being Kaizer Chiefs, Barker said he just wants to enjoy this victory but they will prepare accordingly in due time.
“Look, Chiefs are not an easy team and they are now getting pressure from teams behind them. We must focus on our strengths and take our chances,” he said.
One of the strengths of AmaZulu of late has been the creation of scoring chances from set pieces with Marc Van Heerden playing a key role.
“I think we have done well when it comes to set pieces and I am sure we can still improve from there. We have become a team that is better known for the set pieces and so have Chiefs,” he said.
Another positive that came from the Free State Stars match was that goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro did not concede a goal.
“I was happy with the way we defended; we stayed strong at the back. My only concern was we make silly mistakes but apart from that we are moving on the right direction,” he said.Share
