It was never going to be a walk in the park for AmaZulu, especially coming into a new league against a club that has been there for a while.
Nevertheless coach Steve Barker was impressed with his side’s 1-0 victory and the character that was shown when they beat Witbank Spurs on Saturday at theKing Zwelithini Stadium.
“This was an important victory for us as we had to start strong,” said Barker.
“This gave us an indication of what this league is about and more especially the importance of capitalizing with goals.”
Another positive outcome that Barker highlighted was the character and unity shown by the players, especially those making their debuts.
“It was good seeing our debutants like Gumede, Bhengu and Konqobe amongst many grabbing the opportunity with both hands and molding well with the rest of the team,” added Barker.
“I feel we can still improve and score more, but I am impressed with what I saw.
“I must also thank our supporters for being there for us. It is always good to bring joy to them as they add as a 12th man in our matches. We want to reward them by putting big performances every week.”Share
