The Association of Sport Performance Centers in partnership with the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation, with eThekwini Municipality kicked off the two-day ASPC African Sport Forum at the Moses Mabhida stadium on 06 September.
Upcoming athletes and sports teams from all over the province sat through the rich day long workshop which consisted of a panel discussion on various topics.
AmaZulu youth coaching staff were in full attendance. Former Bafana Bafana trio, Siyabonga Nkosi, Delron Buckley and Macbeth Sibaya discussed the challenges they faced in the early stages of their footballing careers in SA and abroad.
AmaZulu Under 19 Coach, Bukasa Kasonga praised the intention behind Thursday’s sessions; “I think that these discussions will help us develop our boys to become better in the future,’’ said Kasonga.
Macbeth Sibaya encouraged the audience to support their family members forging a career in their respective sporting codes since they have to endure a lot of trials in sport.
‘’At times there’s a lot of pressure placed on players from supporters who at times fail to realize that they are also human,’’ said Sibaya.
The conference which will run up to Friday also saw Banyana Banyana star, Amanda Dlamini take a part in the groundbreaking event alongside MEC for KZN Sports & Recreation, Bongi Sithole-Moloi.
Friday’s forum will cover topics such as the role of universities in athlete development, the role of high performance, and sports governance.Share
