AmaZulu to Assist hosting 2010 Street Soccer March 9, 2010 With the growing interest on the June 11 World Cup set to reach climax by the time that month begins, organizers of the Kia Street Soccer 2010 have already begun looking to assist those less fortunate - with a sporting chance.

In partnership with AmaZulu, Kia Motors, Sporting Chance and a whole host of sponsors are at the moment seeking to provide Durban-based and surrounding communities with a chance of a lifetime.

AmaZulu’s role in this project is to facilitate finding coordinators from Durban and its surrounding areas such as Lamontville, Phoenix, Inanda, KwaMashu, Umlazi and Chatsworth. All of these areas have produced great players in the PSL.

The tournament will see five-a-side teams from these areas playing in a league format for six weeks. The first round matches will be played on Monday, 5th April to 21 May 2010.

The six co-ordinators working with Development Head Thami Ngubane will in turn be awarded a World Cup Ticket and the participating players in line with Fifa’s World Cup Ticket Fund Concept.

According to the organizers, participants in the project will each be awarded World Cup tickets as a way of creating an awareness and interest for the big tournament. The project also promotes Fifa’s World Cup Ticket Fund.

Formed 20 years ago by Brad Bing initially for only Cricket Coaching Clinics to inspire the positive up-bringing of children in South Africa, today the tournament comes full circle to merge with the World Cup sponsors in making the dreams of the young hopefuls a reality.
