In their final league game of the season, AmaZulu trounced Absa Premiership champions SuperSport United 3-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Goals for AmaZulu came via an Ayanda Dlamini brace and a cracking strike from Thami Sangweni.
AmaZulu were however unfortunately not able to secure a top eight finish due to Moroka Swallows' 1-0 win over Jomo Cosmos.
Clear-cut scoring chances were few and far between in the first half.
Dumisani Ngwenya did however have a decent chance in the 14th minute, but lifted his shot over the crossbar.
Just before half time Brent Carelse had a long range effort saved by Mbongeni Mzimela, who followed that up when he kept out a Daine Klate header.
Mzimela again did well after the break to stop Jabu Maluleke and Anthony Laffor from scoring.
AmaZulu then began to impose themselves up front and they opened the scoring when Dlamini netted after a pass from Ngwenya.
Usuthu made it 2-0 when Sangweni rocketed home a superb strike 20 yards out.
Dlamini added the third from the spot in four minutes from time after Rudzani Ramudzuli had committed a hand ball in the 18-yard area.
