The Sasolburg-born Mokoro received the news about his father while he was still in camp with the AmaZulu squad in Millpark, Johhanesburg last week.
Mokoro said the team has been instrumental in supporting him at his time of need.
“The guys and the technical staff have been supportive by phoning me to encourage me to stay strong.
It’s just one of those things in life that you have to take responsibility with and move on. I’m just happy that he brought me to this world and I will never forget him,” said Mokoro.
Losing any loved one on your birthday month is no easy thing for anyone to deal with but Mokoro says he will remain strong and prepare for the next matches with AmaZulu. He will not however form part of the squad that will play on Tuesday against Golden Arrows as he will only leave two days after the funeral on Saturday.
“We are giving ‘Chippa’ all the necessary guidance he needs. At this stage he needs to focus on his family and we will welcome back after he has been with them,” said AmaZulu Team, Manager James Dlamini.
Dlamini says because he has missed a full week’s training he will not be expected to be rushed.
