Lamontville Golden Arrows won the 2010 Engen Under-17 Knockout Challenge after drubbing Junior Aces 3-0 in the final at Highbury Sports Ground in Wentworth, Durban on the 17th October 2010.
Andile Fikizolo, Sibusiso Sibeko and Lizwi Dladla scored for Arrows, to earn them their first ever win of the eight-year old tournament.
Khanyile’s boys walked away with not only the cup and bragging rights but also a R10 000 cheque, a full team kit and a ball bag courtesy of competition sponsors Engen, while Aces received R2500, a full team kit and a ball bag.
Maritzburg United came in third position thanks to a one-nil win over Westville Academy, with Sibusiso Mchunu of United on target. The Team of Choice lads also won the Fair Play Team Award due to their good discipline.
Arrows midfielder Brandon Parsunath was the big winner bagging the player of the tournament award and the midfielder of the tournament. His teammates Sibeko and Sicelo Cele walked away with the top goal scorer and goalkeeper of the tournament awards respectively.
Josua Chickarica of Semifinalists Westville Academy took home the Defender of the Tournament Award while Junior Aces Nkululeko Mncwabe and Sinethemba Mkhize won the Coach of the Tournament and Striker of the Tournament respectively.
