AmaZulu Glenwood Academy will be looking to kick off their 2019 Kloof soccer tournament campaign on a positive note following their impressive performances in the 2017 and 2018 editions.
The team were champions of the 2017 edition after beating Hilton College 3-1 in the final on 03 July 2017. In last year’s edition the boys managed to reach the semi – finals where they narrowly lost 4-5 on penalties against Pinetown Boys.
The AmaZulu Glenwood Academy are drawn in Group G in this year’s edition of the tournament with Brebner high school, Durban Academy and Benoni high school.
Coach Lindani ‘’Dinto’’ Mkhize reckons his charges are readying them through friendly matches in order to get the better of their opponents this year.
‘’Preparations have been going well, the team has been playing friendlies to fully prepare us, and the progress is positive.’’
‘’The team has a mixture of SAB players and junior players that have played in the Engine Knockout Challenge, so our squad is relatively young,’’ he said.
Mkhize also spoke about how well the team has been doing and how he believes that his team will perform even better this time around and possibly even win the tournament again.
AmaZulu Glenwood Academy under 15 were second runners up in the COPA Coca-Cola 2018 national finals.
‘’I have faith in them because they have been gelling well regardless of the age differences, coaching them has been a pleasure, the boys listen and they respect me,’’ he concluded.
The Kloof high school soccer tournament will be played over the course of 3 days from the 15 June to 17 June 2019 and all matches will be played at the Kloof High school.Share
