AmaZulu recently presented a R100 000 cheque to the Gozololo Home for homeless children as one of their many continued efforts in assisting the needy.
The money was raised from the AmaZulu and Spar Golf Day which took place in the beginning of last month at the Durban Golf Club.
Companies which heeded the call ranged from Grindrod Travels, SAB, Nedbank, AmaZulu FC, Spar among others.
Mirriam Cele who started the home many years ago from feeding the kids out of her own pockets was only thankful and humbled by the team’s visit to the children.
Mam’ Gozololo as she is affectionately known to the community founded the project with the aim of helping impoverished victims of post apartheid times. With the experience she brought from her days of working in the Diakonia Council of Churches in Durban she found her true calling in assisting the young children.
The money presented to Gozololo will go a long way in feeding and clothing about 260 children in the school
PR & Communications Manager, Philani Mabaso in returned threw the ball back to the mother figures like Mam’ Gozololo. The previous home fixture against Maritzburg United saw women paying R10 for tickets and yet again the club has allowed the same price to apply for this afternoon’s match.
According to Mabaso the KZN club is looking into making the above mentioned ticket price for women a uniform charge for PSL matches for the rest of the season.
