AmaZulu are still searching for their first win of the season after they were beaten 2-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium by Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, September 24. Usuthu have claimed one point from their three away matches this campaign, with their last result on the road a 1-1 draw in the Durban derby against Golden Arrows.
New coach Jozef Vukusic will have been pleased by the spirit his team showed against Chiefs, with the home side denied two goals by incorrect offside calls before conceding in the dying minutes when a creditable draw looked to be on the cards.
In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and AmaZulu have met in 44 league matches since 1990. Matsatsantsa have claimed 20 wins compared to 15 for Usuthu, while nine matches have been drawn. The Tshwane side has won 13 of their 21 home league matches against the Durban club, suffering four defeats in the process.
Last season United claimed a 1-0 home win in August 2018, but the return game in Durban saw AmaZulu claim a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Bonginkosi Ntuli and Somila Ntsundwana. These teams have not played out a draw against each other since 2013/14.
