AmaZulu determined to break winless streak

AmaZulu will be determined to break their winless streak in the 2019/20 Absa Premiership when they face hosts SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, 28 September. Kick-off is at 20h15.

SuperSport come into the match on the back of a 3-1 loss away to Polokwane City on Saturday, September 21. Matsatsantsa are unbeaten at home this season, with one win and a draw from their two turns as hosts thus far.

AmaZulu are still searching for their first win of the season after they were beaten 2-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium by Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, September 24. Usuthu have claimed one point from their three away matches this campaign, with their last result on the road a 1-1 draw in the Durban derby against Golden Arrows.

New coach Jozef Vukusic will have been pleased by the spirit his team showed against Chiefs, with the home side denied two goals by incorrect offside calls before conceding in the dying minutes when a creditable draw looked to be on the cards.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and AmaZulu have met in 44 league matches since 1990. Matsatsantsa have claimed 20 wins compared to 15 for Usuthu, while nine matches have been drawn. The Tshwane side has won 13 of their 21 home league matches against the Durban club, suffering four defeats in the process.

Last season United claimed a 1-0 home win in August 2018, but the return game in Durban saw AmaZulu claim a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Bonginkosi Ntuli and Somila Ntsundwana. These teams have not played out a draw against each other since 2013/14.
