AmaZulu Community Trust launches The Sumptous Cup


An all new and exciting schools football cup competition was launched by the AmaZulu Community Trust and Sumptuous Caterers on 30 April at Sunnydale Secondary School in Eshowe which is called the Sumptuous Cup.

The football development program which will also be known as the Kickstart for Life Programme will be rolled out in various arears around Northern KwaZulu Natal, in some of parts of Durban and 15 schools.

According to AmaZulu Community Trust Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa, the main aim of the programme is to provide leaners from disadvantaged communities a good base in football and sports developments.

The tournament is the brainchild of Sumptuous Catering Director, Sbonelo Mlangeni who encouraged the schools to involve more participation among ladies in future.

All 14 participating schools will receive R2 500 participation fee while the winner will walk away with R10 00 prize money.

Dintwa had these remarks to give about the project: “The “Kickstart for Life Programme” is a healthy schools initiative which will use the power of football to deliver an important message, that health, fitness, nutrition, and a solid education is very important the youth.

“If these children are equipped with the essential moral values and life-skills, they can live lives that influence and inspire their communities, which will have a lasting impact on them,” said Dintwa.

The initiative will also see coaches from the participating schools being workshopped at clinics by qualified personnel.

Sumptuous Caterers is a Durban based leading catering company which prides itself in promoting community participation and a healthy lifestyle around its focus arears of operation. The project is endorsed by the SAFA Ulundi region and the Department of Education.

The program will be administered by the AmaZulu Community Trust which was formed in 2009 to empower communities using the power of sport to build healthier lifestyles and habits, to reduce crime, to improve their educational achievements within the community.

Participating Schools:

Durban Region: Ohlange High School and Adams College.

Empangeni Region: Bizimali High School, Empangeni High School, Sunnydale Secondary School

Ulundi Region: James Nxumalo High School, King Bhekizulu High School, Masibumbane High School, Mlokothwa High School.

Vryheid Region: Mathunjwa High School, Msinga High School, Sihayo High School, Vryheid High School.

Ladies Teams: Dlangezwa High School, Vukile High School.
