AmaZulu defender, Marc Van Heerden is expecting a fierce battle against Kaizer Chiefs when the teams clash at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Cavin Johnson’s side are unbeaten at home this season, and Van Heerden believes captilising on that form is the key to ending a 12-year winless spell against the Amakhosi.
“It is always an interesting match between the teams. From our form this year at home, it is going to be very tough for them to come away with something from there,” Van Heerden said.
Chiefs will arrive in Durban after losing to Zesco United in a CAF Confederations match over the weekend.
“That result does not matter much,” Van Heerden said.
“They are a big team and they are expected to win every game, they have depth and we are expecting a tough encounter. It is going to be fierce but we have the quality to match them,” Van Heerden said.
AmaZulu have enjoyed good support at home this season, Van Heerden has called on the Usuthu family to rival the Chiefs fans in the stands.
“There is no doubt that we need our fans to come out in numbers for this one,” Van Heerden said.
He continued, “Usuthu fans are serious football people, we know that there will be plenty of Chiefs fans at the stadium but we also know that our fans will make themselves heard.”
Tickets for the clash are still available and can be purchased from TicketPro as well as Spar Outlets. Kick-off is at 19:30.Share
