AmaZulu FC first team players, in collaboration with EXP marketing agency brought smiles to the faces of Durban football fans when they brought the ABSA Premiership trophy to the city centre on Thursday, 25 November 2010.
Striker Sandile Gumede, defender Warren Bishop and midfielder Ramson Zhuwawo stopped at ABSA Bank in Durban where they posed for photographs with supporters and signed autographs with the main attraction being the elegant PSL trophy.
Zimbabwean signing Ramson Zhuwawo who only has a few weeks experience in PSL was even more impressed by seeing and touching the silver made artwork.
“The trophy is quite nice. I won the league when I was with Gunners FC in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League and I actually enjoyed being in front of the PSL one.
It was also an honour to have been in townships like KwaMashu and the famous Umlazi,” said the midfielder.
The 26 year old says that the competitiveness he has seen so far with ‘Usuthu’ has fueled him into wanting to one day hold the trophy with the rest of his teammates.
Siphelele Dube of ABSA in Umlazi was delighted to see the soccer stars in the flesh.
“I think it was a good initiative by the organizers to bring the trophy to the people. I follow football when I get a chance with my friends and I’m happy to experience this.
The trophy then went to KwaMashu Bridge City before making a final stop in Umlazi Mega City. The EXP ad agency also gave away tickets to the AmaZulu VS Free State Stars match on Saturday to lucky enthusiasts.
Supporters still without tickets can buy them at Computicket.
