Saturday afternoon’s 2-2 draw against Santos and their third consecutive draw in the league means head coach Roger Palmgren’s men have it all to do in their last match of the league next week away against Kaizer Chiefs.
“We were playing good soccer in the first half although we were punished by set pieces which was a bit unfortunate for this time of the season.
“They looked hungrier than us for a while, we tried to play the ball on the ground while they kicked the ball around and were successful with the set piece but, we did try in the second half in
pushing the guys harder from the technical staff and that paid off.
“Then we punished them a couple of times even though I thought getting more goals was possible because we had lots of chances,” said Palmgren.
Although the defiant Swede bemoaned complacency from his charges in sealing the top eight position before the last league match, he assured AmaZulufc.net the top eight finish will not elude the KZN club.
“There’s no time for panicking, we can still win the next game to stay in the top, which will really have to do,” the coach said.
AmaZulu are now sitting on 40 points and still hog position 8th on the log but are level with 9th placed Ajax Cape Town on points by an a eight goal difference. On position 7th lie Bloemfontein Celtics with 41 points.
