Maritzburg United held AmaZulu to a 1-1 draw in their PSL clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday night.
The visitors drew first blood in first-half stoppage time when Goodman Dlamini found the back of the net, but Cuthbert Malajila scored the equaliser at the death to grab a share of the spoils.
Malajila had the first real chance for United in the first half as he was put through by Thabang Matuka, but he didn't make a proper connection with the ball and his shot flew wide of the target.
The breakthrough came on the stroke of half-time. Ayanda Dlamini beat two United defenders before crossing for Goodman Dlamini, who tapped in from close range.
In the 63rd minute the home side had a great opportunity to level matters as Malajila played substitute Diyo Sibisi through on goal. However, his shot was straight at goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini.
Malajila had a penalty shout turned down in the 83rd minute and then Ayanda Dlamini forced Shuaib Walters into a top save at the other end of the pitch.
However, the decisive strike came from Malajila in stoppage time. The Zimbabwean pounced on a loose ball and dinked it over Tapuwa Kapini to come away with a point.
The result sees the Team of Choice occupy 11th position in the standings, while Usuthu are seventh, only two points behind Kaizer Chiefs.
