Captain and goal keeper Tapuwa Kapini has been announced as AmaZulu’s Player of the Month for March, following a string of convincing goal blocking performances between the sticks for the Durban based club.
The usually abuzz Zimbabwean international told AmaZulufc.net that if the recognition could be shared with all players in the club everyone would easily have a piece of it as he says everybody in the team deserves it.
“This shows that I’m working hard and will be inspired to continue working hard day by day, but another thing is without a good coach like Graham Johnson (Goal keeper trainer) and Mzimela (Mbongeni Mzimela) and Philo (Philani Zikalala) pushing me at training as well as all my teammates I wouldn’t have gotten this,” said Kapini.

Kapini was presented with a R2000 cheque and a weekend stay for two at Suncoast and Hotel Towers courtesy of Suncoast and Entertainment World by AmaZulu PR & Communications Manager, Philani Mabaso.
The award has previously been presented to defenders Carlington Nyadombo, Bukasa Kasonga and Tsweu Mokoro.
However Kapini is diplomatic about the 10 match clean sheets the team has kept in all their 23 matches played so far saying it cannot be attributed to the defence alone.
“Defending starts from up the field with the strikers whether its Ayanda, Stanton or Deco (Goodman Dlamini) as well when we attack it’s all a team effort.
“With the few matches left all I can say is we need to keep pushing ourselves because there’s no need to relax,” he said.
AmaZulu’s next league match is against city rivals Golden Arrows on Wednesday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 19:30pm.
