KZN Reserve League Update

Promotion garnering Thanda Royal Zulu did not feature this week due to their busy schedule NFD with back to back fixtures on the weekend and on Wednesday. AmaZulu had to play Durban Warriors in place of Thanda.  

The two sides produced an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Moses Mabhida Outer Fields.

Stanton Lewis scored an individual goal in the 1st half for Usuthu, by dribbling his way into the Warriors box and passing ball past the keeper ascending AmaZulu upfront.

Warriors levelled matters late in the first half through Nkanyiso Mandonsela before Tangeni Shipahu put in the lead again.
Nippy Warriors’ winger Lucky Kunene’s second half strike was enough to earn the Vodacom League campaigning side a draw. 



AmaZulu Juniors and Sharks Academy also played a 2-2 draw. It was young Irvil Saunders who put Sharks ahead in the 1st half, only for the Usuthu Juniors to fight back through Mpume Mkhize.
Carl James scored again in the second half for Sharks and Joshua Bears responded for AmaZulu Juniors. 

In the third match African Wanderers beat the KZN Reserve League’s latest entrants London Cosmos 6-2.
Wanders were 3-0 up by the half time with a brace by Thokozani Ngubane and a single strike by Mbongeni Mthembu. Cosmos replied with 2 goals from Samkelo Thusi and Sanele Khanyile.

African Wanderers put the game beyond Cosmos’ reach in the second half when Siyabonga Kunene found the back of the net twice. Sandile Mthembu scored on the last match.

Pine Town Academy beat Thekwini Coastal 1-0. Two matches were not played: Umlazi Academy vs Joyous FC matches and Durban City vs Westville Academy.
