Senior Defenders Renew Contracts

AmaZulu have tightened their grip on senior defenders, Bukasa Kasonga and Marc van Heerden by renewing their contracts for a further year (Kasonga) and two-and-a-half years (van Heerden) spells respectively.

Left-back Marc van Heerden, who made his debut for Usuthu in 2008, has grown to be one of the club’s most reliable team members.

Speaking to AmaZulufc.net after penning his deal with the 80-year-old club, he said, “I’m happy with the extension. Obviously my focus has always been on playing my heart out for a club as big as AmaZulu.”

“I’m also certain that over the next 2 years or so there’s going to a big increase in the fan base at AmaZulu, and I’m excited in helping the club in getting to where it wants to be,” the 23 year old defender said.

Van Heerden was missing in two of AmaZulu’s past matches due to injury, but he has now started light training.

Kasonga, on the other hand, remains hopeful that the KZN club will soon get into the swing of the things, despite suffering a second consecutive loss since the second round kicked off.

“I think we will come right soon. We were disappointed of the losses but we’re hopeful we will bounce back,” said the central defender.
