Welcome to the first edition of LOVE USUTHU. This is a column that will keep you the fans of AmaZulu informed and statistically updated.
This is where you will know more about your players, the team and interesting news on and off the field every Thursday. On this edition we bring you the top 5 first round performers in the team.
To a lot of people football is just entertainment; to some it is business, but to the stars that perform on the field of fire it is more than that, it is the game of life. It is about getting ahead of the rest and receiving recognition for it.
Getting to be a star player or a starting-11 player is hard, but it is even harder staying maintaining the standards. Your performance needs to shine above the rest and your contribution is your effectiveness on the field to help the team win.
Today, we look at the top 5 players that we think kept the Usuthu fire burning in the first half of the Absa Premiership League, hence the top 5 performers according to us.
At number five we have the midfield maestro, Goodman Dlamini, otherwise known as ‘Deco’:
Number 5: Goodman ‘Deco’ Dlamini.

The 24-year old midfield player, whose hobby is shopping, is an outstanding performer. Having played 676 minutes, scoring 2 goals in 10 matches, the young star has only been substituted twice. This is a vein of good form by the midfielder, considering that some strikers in the team do not even have any goals to show. He is our number 5 in the list.
Number 4: Stanton Lewis

The Johannesburg-born player, previously with Kaizer Chiefs, is an out-front striker is another prodigy of note. Lewis has the ability to position himself accompanied by a dangerous set of skills. He made a late move from Chiefs joining AmaZulu in September 2011, but already he’s the team’s top goalscorer with 3 goals to his name. For a young striker, he boasts a load of experience having had a chance to trial at Ajax Amsterdam.
Number 3: Kasongo Bukasa

At 1, 78 meters Kasongo Bukasa stands tall at centre back. The Democratic Republic of Congo-born player is No.: 3 on the list for his amazing ability to defend with a strong right foot. He has made 11 appearances for Usuthu with only 2 yellow cards to indicate his strong, but fair skill of defending. The 32-year old, who according to ESPN.GO.COM is worth R1, 016,153.23, won the defender of the month last year (2011) in December with Usuthu. He accepted the prize money from Suncoast Hotel and Towers as a reward.
Number 2: Thamsanqa Sangweni

The South African young hopeful is at No.: 2 on the list. Thamsanqa Sangweni, who joined AmaZulu three seasons ago, is now a matured defender who offers clinical marking and linkage between defence and midfield. The enthusiastic player received a call-up to the national team (Bafana Bafana) that played against Ghana, Zambia and Zimbabwe in friendly matches.
Number 1: Carlington Nyadombo

Our No.: 1 player on the list is Carlington Nyadombo. The 26-year old Zimbabwean takes the crown for the best performing player in the first round. After 1170 minutes worth of game time, Nyadombo has played more games than any other player in the team. He won the player of the month twice in months September and October 2011 with Usuthu.
Those are the players on our list and we hope they keep up the good work and efforts with the second round already at hand. Enjoy!
