AmaZulufc.net was on hand once again at Moses Mabhida Outer Fields to capture all the exciting matchups from this week’s KZN Reserve League matches.
The most noticeable match was the one between former Bafana Bafana captain and AmaZulu coach Neil Tovey’s Thanda Royal Zulu and Ian Palmer’s Maritzburg United - it finished 1-1.
It is still early days for the Richards Bay side but they have made strong indications that want to regain promotion to the elite.
Although Tovey fielded a half strength side they still managed to scare their PSL counterparts and went ahead when striker Andile Nqabeni scored first. Maritzburg United managed to level matters courtesy of a Fadlu Davids goal.
“The purpose of the league is to play other players that are not automatic starters to get them sharper and ready to play competitively.
It’s better than any training session you can have,” said the head coach of Thanda.
The league has also been welcomed with open arms by inactive Vodacom League clubs.
“We’ve got about 35 players and we want to compete fully so that we start to find the winning combinations, so that we can be ready when the league begins,” said African Wanderers, coach Thami Ngubane.
