Aleni Lebyane came off the bench to give Free State Stars a 1-0 win over AmaZulu during stoppage time in an ABSA Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Lebyane, who was left on the bench after struggling to score against SuperSport United last weekend, replaced Ouri Sedate with 13 minutes remaining and gave Stars the victory when he headed Noah Chivuta's freekick into the back of the net with seconds remaining on the clock.
The two sides had a share of chances in the first 15 minutes of the match with Stars' Zakari Morou twice coming close to scoring while Thamsanqa Sangweni and Tshweu Mokoro also came close for the home side.
Mokoro continued to threaten as the match progressed together with Sibusiso Hadebe who had his first attempt saved by Kennedy Mweene before missing the target a few minutes later.
Before the break Thabo Matlaba almost put Stars ahead but his shot was deflected out to safety.
Tapiwu Kapini denied Matlaba in the 64th minute with a great save to keep the scoreline goalless.
AmaZulu finished the match with ten men after Celani Vilani received his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the 85th minute.
Just as it looked like the encounter would end in a draw substitute Lebyane rose highest to score from Chivuta's freekick to give Stars a win away from home.
