AmaZulu's strikers seemed to have remained on holiday mood as they once again failed to punish the opposition when it mattered most.
'Usuthu' were forced to walk away with a 0-0 drawn match result against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Materpieces Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ironically, despite their territorial domination, it was AmaZulu who produced the most incisive scoring efforts, with Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands bringing off a sensational 38th minute save from Goodman Dlamini's 30 yard scorcher.
Sandilands was again prominent five minutes later when Usuthu came within a whisker of scoring following a hectic goalmouth scrimmage.
AmaZulu also had the Sundowns defence at sixes and sevens when Tangeni Shipahu's 20 yard daisy-cuter thundered against the post following a darting dribble.
Sundowns, meanwhile, huffed and puffed when they had goal-scoring opportunities and striker Katlego Mphela - who scored a brace of goals for Bafana Bafana in the 3-0 win over Burkina Faso in mid-week - was unrecognisable as the same potent player.
It was one of those days in which the mesmerising Mabhudi Khenyeza had something of an off-day before being substituted by Zimbabwean international Nyasha Mushekwi midway through the second period.
